How to Write a Resume Summary That Grabs Recruiters Attention

How to Write a Resume Summary That Grabs Recruiters AttentionHow to Write a Resume Summary That Grabs Recruiters Attention To include a resume summary, or not to include a resume summary? The nagging question that has plagued many a job seeker. Well, heres some advice to clear the matter up yes, you should include a summary. Unless you are really pressed for space, have a significant amount of description writing in the body of your resume, or youre specifically directed not to include a summary, its an essential addition to a professional resume. Most people should have a summary, says Lynn Carroll - a career coach who writes about authenticity in the job search, gender equity in the workplace, and inclusion - who we reached out to to learn how to create an eye-catching resume summary. Carroll distinguishes between a resume objective , which she says is what the jobseeker is looking to find in a company or position, and a resume summary, which tells a recruite r what the jobseeker can uniquely offer to a company or position. The objective is now considered by most recruiters as an out-of-date function because it focuses on the jobseeker The summary is considered more current and a better way to describe the relationship between the jobseeker and the company because it talks about what they can offer, says Carroll. Here are a few tips to keep in mind for your summary There are plenty of opportunities to expound on your qualifications and experience in the job search process, like in your cover letter or the interview. The resume summary is a place to make the resume a bit more personalized, and to frame your resume in terms of the type of candidate you believe the company is looking for. For this reason, its important to keep the summary short. Carroll recommends writing a full paragraph at first, and then gradually whittling it down to two or three sentences full of powerful, important words. By condensing - rather than on the very firs t pass have a short summary - sometimes you give a lot more thought to what the most important pieces really are, she advises.A resume summary isnt a place to re-hash your professional experience , or to list out your soft skills. Its about giving the reader a brief, vivid taste of what kind of person you are in the workplace, what drives you and makes you tick, and what kind of environments you thrive in. Keep this in mind as you write your summary tell, dont list. Keywords are important for several reasons. First of all, they can help you stand out in applicant tracking systems , a type of software that companies use to digitally sift through job applications. Second of all, you can show that you know how to speak the same language as the company. If you were using the word customer for example, and they were using the word client in their job description, the idea is the same but they dont see that you are using their same lingo, Carroll says. They might feel like youre not in touch with where theyre at.Carroll says she always encourages her clients to use vivid, descriptive language , that brings their experience and skills to life. If I describe a meeting I organized, that seems like I platzdeckchen the conference call up. If I describe a meeting that I envisioned, or I describe a gathering that I developed, that sounds like I had more input into the content, she says. Using verbs that have active connotations rather than passive connotations can help this, Carroll adds. Theres no one tone to strike in a resume summary. It all depends on the type of job youre applying for and the kind of company youre sending your resume off to. Carroll gives the example of someone applying to a job at a more traditional, hierarchical Fortune 500 company versus someone applying to a job at a Silicon Valley startup. At the Fortune 500 company, she says, the applicant might want to use phrases like solid foundation and excellent skills to imply stability and reliabili ty. At a startup, however, one might want to use phrases like creative, innovative, or dynamic. It all depends on the job youre applying for, and also dont forget what describes you as a candidate the most accurately.

Use Employee Training and Development to Motivate Staff

Use Employee Training and Development to Motivate StaffUse Employee Training and Development to Motivate StaffWant to keep your staff motivated about learning new concepts? The quality and variety of the employee training you provide are key for motivation. Reasons to offer employee training are many, from new-hire operational training to introducing a new concept to a workgroup to installing a new computer system. Whatever your reason for conducting an employee training session, its critical to develop the employee training within the framework of a comprehensive, ongoing and consistent program. This quality employee training program is essential to keep your staff motivated about learning new concepts and ultimately keep your department profitable. Essential Components of Employee Training Programs A complete employee training program includes a formal new hire training program with an overview of the job expectations and performance skills needed to perform job functions. A ne w hire training program provides a fundamental understanding of the position and how the position fits within the organizational structure. The mora background knowledge the new associate has the ways in which one workgroup interrelates with ancillary departments, the more the new associate will understand his or her impact on the organization. Another aspect of a comprehensive employee training program is continuing education. The most effective employee training programs assign the responsibility of continuing education to one person in the department. This is an important function in order to keep all staff members current about policies, procedures, and the technology. New Hire Training A solid new hire training program begins with the creation of an employee training manual. This manual acts as a building block of practical and technical skills needed to prepare the new individual for his or her position. In order for the department to understand current policies and proced ures, a manager must ensure the department manuals or online employee training are kept current. This includes any system enhancements or changes in policy or procedure. In addition, focus on the user when designing training manuals or online training. Use language that isnt corporate, include images and multimedia and keep it interesting for the reader. When possible, incorporate visual images of the computer screen with screen captures to illustrate functions, examples, and how-tos. On the Job Training Another form of new hire training includes training a new associate directly next to an existing associate. Some call this On the Job Training (OJT) or side-by-side training. This strategy allows the new associate to see first hand the different facets of the position. Also, OJT allows the new hire the opportunity to develop a working relationship with an existing associate. Here are additional resources for new employee training and orientation. Continuing Education in Employ ee Training A continuing education program for a department is just as important as the new hire training. When training a new associate, understand that they will only retain approximately 40 percent of the information learned during the initial training session. Therefore, reminding the staff about various procedures and concepts needs to be ongoing, with either a formal or informal approach. The formal or traditional approach to employee training often includes a member of management sending a memo to each associate. The informal and often more appealing approach to a visual learner is to send a one-page information sheet. This information sheet, called a training alert, should be informative and presented in a non-threatening manner. If a policy or procedure changes, the informal approach would better prepare the department to receive this update. Prior to putting together a continuing education employee training program, the management team must decide upon their desired outco me. One important question to consider Do you want the program to enhance the skills of your associate or do you want to help your associate with personal development? While there is some commonality between these answers, the main difference is the opportunity for the management team to mold future management team members. If the desired outcome is simply to enhance skills with no personal development, the department will have a staff that simply knows how to do their job a little better. While that is a positive outcome, you want your company to think outside the box, and design a program that allows and even encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. Thus, when designing a continuing education program, the desired outcome should blend both technical and personal enhancement. This schrift of training program allows the staff the opportunity to develop solid management skills coupled with a better understanding of their position and function and understand how they fit into the organization. Blending Technical Training With Personal Development If you discover during the assessment process, for example, that writing skills in the department are low, youll need to enhance those skills by developing a corresponding training session. This writing session could include topics on the basics of writing such as spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and correct word use. Building on those basics, you could give your participants an applicable exercise, such as writing a letter to a customer apologizing for a late shipment. Provide the participants background information about the customer. Tell them the customer has purchased for ten years and has always made payments promptly. Give them ten or fifteen minutes to compose a rough draft and then present their letter to the group. Once someone has read a letter, ask participants to offer feedback for improvements as the trainer, point out the positive aspects of the letter. Another mechanism that will hel p with ongoing continuing education is enabling staff members to develop an affiliation with an association or industry group. This kind of education is tangible and has been proven to have a positive track record with the local offices and their industry trade groups. Staff members are given the opportunity to come together periodically and discuss the issues they are experiencing in their business. This is a positive experience for everyone involved The information gained can prove useful to others who may have the potential to partake in a similar situation, while people who have experienced a similar situation have the chance to talk about their solutions that worked effectively. Effective Training Breeds Success The best type of employee training program for a workgroup is one tailored to their needs. So how do you know what their needs are? One way is to work with the staff members who are responsible for the area. If possible, do a random sampling of the staff performance development plans and look for consistencies in any needed areas of development. Another approach is to conduct a training needs assessment and ask the staff members themselves what skills they would like to develop. No matter how you determine what types of employee training sessions are needed, remember that when developing the course, stick to the original concept. If more than one concept is considered during the planning process, break the concepts out into two workshops. Keep in mind that a productive employee training session can and should be accomplished in less than two hours. Anything longer than two hours and you will lose your audience. Finally, during the actual training session, have at least one or two activities to keep the participants minds active and to prevent nodding off or daydreaming. Do You Really Need an Employee Training Session? While an employee training session may be effective, it may not always be the best approach to fulfilling training needs. If the concept you are introducing is defined as elementary or common knowledge, create an employee training alert instead. An employee training alert is an excellent method to communicate and reinforce concepts that would be considered common knowledge or new job information. Put employee training alerts online, distribute via email, or, in some cases, when employees do not have computer access, write employee training alerts in a bullet format on a hard copy. Use colored paper and add some flare and/or graphics to the piece of document. I have found that when staff members receive a piece of fluorescent green paper in their mailbox rather than a white one, they are more likely to pick it up and read it. Keeping the Learning Going If the capabilities are available and the department wants to have some fun while learning, develop a game. This can be anything from Family Feud to Jeopardy and more. Have the staff answer questions created by the department management relating to work situations and/or people. It is amazing what people will remember from a fun situation versus a forced learning experience. Keep employee training classes informative and light. While communicating the ideas is important, the number one goal should be to keep the staff interested, involved and entertained during the workshop. This can be difficult if you do not employ an animated trainer. Introduce the department to the concept of blended learning. Allow the staff to achieve their learning levels from different resources. While the employee training alerts and employee training sessions come directly from management, challenge the staff to look online for other ideas that might work in their department. First and foremost, remember is that learning can and should be fun. Your staff members want to absorb knowledge, and theyll most likely want to learn concepts when they are presented in a fresh, lively and exciting manner. Putting a twist on your current employee training methods c an help people become excited about learning. Data Analytics Career Transition 201 How to write a killer resume and ace the interview

Data Analytics Career Transition 201 How to write a killer resume and ace the einstellungsgesprchData Analytics Career Transition 201 How to write a killer resume and ace the vorstellungsgesprchCraft a resume that will land you an interview in the world of big data, business intelligence and analytics. In our first installment of Data Analytics Career Transition 101 , we showed how to bring the dream of a data analytics career one step closer to reality by crystallizing your career objectives and interest, assessing your analytics aptitude, targeting your dream jobs and filling skill gaps with training. Now its time to craft a great resume that will land you an interview, and wow them in person when it does. What gets you the interview? What stands in your way?Right Job + Right Resume + Right Time Place (aka luck) = InterviewYou cant control luck. But the other two, you can. And here is how toFind and apply for the right jobWrite the right resumeApply for the right jobYouve done the hard work, learning about your career path and preparing for it, so dont throw it away by applying for the wrong jobs.1. Be focused in applying for jobs that fit your dream job profile and build on your skills. Dont blanket the market with your resume it wastes time and energy.2. Look inside your current company, if already employed. Moving to a new job internally is always easier than landing a job elsewhere- you already know the culture, the colleagues and the company, which makes you a better candidate for the hiring manager.3. Use the right job sites and your contacts to learn of opportunities and capitalize on them. LinkedIn.com, incrunchdata.com, craigslist.com, dice.com, etc. are great sources of up-to-date job postings. Some of these enable direct access to the recruiter via paid services. And if you are lucky enough to know someone who works at one of your target companies, ask them to send your resume to the hiring manager or make an introduction so you can make direct co ntact yourself.Write the right resumeOnce you know where youre applying, its time to craft the perfect resume. Of course, that means being accurate and thorough in describing your work history, experience and education. But how you do that is what makes a great first impression and gets you the interview.1. Tell a powerful story that not only paints a clear, coherent picture of your strengths as an analyst, it provides the proof- with dollar signs. First, write your story as an analyst, even if youre a developer right now. Then, dont just list your projects list their impact. Show how you were instrumental in driving revenue or savings. If you dont have actual numbers, describe the impact as potential gain.2. Answer the hiring managers questions before they are asked with a resume structure that is clear and direct. Use a Request for Quote (RFQ) format that allows a hiring manager or recruiter to see how you stack up against the job requirements in seconds. Simply list the job requi rements from the job description in one column and your bullet-point experience in the next. Hiring managers who spend hours wading through verbose resumes to see if an applicant is qualified will appreciate seeing youre a great fit for the job in two secondsUse boldface to highlight key words or concepts to make it even easier for your skills to get attention. And remember, keep your resume to no more than two pages.3. Show your passion for data analytics by choosing words that convey your enthusiasm. Dont use empty words or inactive verbs. Replace terms such as good problem-solving skills with brief stories about how you used those skills. Instead of saying you were involved in a market research project say you conducted market research that resulted in a tangible impact.Acing the interviewYouve written an attention-getting resume that did the job- it got you an interview. Now its time to seal the deal in person.1. Prepare, prepare, prepare. Take time to research the company to be gin to understand the business model, revenue stream, future plans and more. Youll use this information to provide meaningful answers set in companys context during the interview and prepare questions of your own to asking the hiring managers and interview team.Practice your story so you focus on the key messages you want to emphasize and know how to answer tough questions without derailing the conversation. An interview is your chance to bring life to the words youve already written in your resume.Be ready to demonstrate your technical knowledge, which may include using a whiteboard to show your knowledge of SQL, for instance, by writing code.2. Show your fire. An interview is not the time to appear bored or disinterested. Let the interviewer see and hear your passion for analytics, your enthusiasm for the company and your desire to get the job. Passion for the job often counts for more than hard skills when it comes to winning a position.Demonstrate your ability to help the compan y. Show them your problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to size and estimate their impact. Interviews sometimes include a problem-solving exercise that may be modeled on an issue being faced by the company this is your chance to demonstrate your analytical skills by how you take a large problem, break it into small pieces in a structured way, lay out your assumptions and facts, and pull it all back together as a solution.3. Mind your manners. Be confident, but not arrogant. Listen to others without interruption, ask thoughtful questions, show up on time, dressed appropriately and prepared. And then, when the interview is over, follow-up with well-written thank you notes to each member of the interview team. Thank them for their time and let them know how excited youd be to work for the company. If you need more hands-on help with your career transition, I highly recommend taking Aryngs Analytics Career Transition training. Also, check out my book Behind Every Good Decision , a step-by-step guide on how anyone can use Business Analytics to turn data into profitable insights. Its true that landing a job contains a certain amount of luck. John Thornton Making the Moon Accessible

John Thornton Making the Moon Accessible John Thornton Making the Moon Accessible John Thornton Making the Moon Accessible Fifty years ago Apollo 11 captured the worlds imagination by landing the first men on the Moon. Today, the world is returning to the Moon to test new technologies and techniques to lay the groundwork for mankinds next giant leap in space exploration. Astrobotic, a lunar delivery tafelgeschirr, will be supporting this mission by launching its Peregrine Lunar Lander in early 2021. Astrobotics CEO John Thornton discusses how a small company from Pittsburgh is leading this mission. Astrobotic is one of the companies recently selected by NASA to go back to the Moon to carry payloads and instruments and set the stage to potentially colonize the planet.Q You are building a lander for Moon landing. Whats Astrobotics mission?J.T We need to make the Moon accessible to the world and we are doing it by building an accessible affordable routine service to take payloads up to the surface of the Moon. Our flagship lander is called Peregrine and once it lands on the Moon it becomes a local utility providing power and communications to the payloads that come with it. Peregrines first mission will be delivering payloads to the Moon for governments, companies, universities, non-profits, and individuals from around the world.Q From being a contestant for the Lunar XPrize to now being selected by NASA to provide payload services. What does this mean for the company?J.T To be recognized by the worlds number one space agency is a major milestone and accomplishment for us. Recognizing that our spacecraft and payload delivery service is mature enough and ready to go for future NASA missions is very exciting and builds on what we have been doing for the past 11 years. We have taken great strides to build payload services market, and having NASA coming in as a potential major customer is a capstone to all of that development over the many years.Q What are some of the key challenges of landing a rover on the Moon?J.T Some of the big challenges include the thermal environment on our way out when you are exposed to sunlight and radiation. Once we are on our way down, the actual landing on the surface can be challenging as you have to have the right sensors to move the spacecraft accurately so that it lands on the surface smoothly. You also have the sharp regolith, so rovers have to be carefully designed so that they dont break down. Landing on the Moon is still a great challenge but it helps dramatically by the fact that there has been 50 years of space development since Apollo that have advanced the key components that are necessary for flying to the Moon. While Apollo was inventing many of the systems for the first time for its lander, we can now buy these systems off the shelf. Thats enabled by the very healthy satellite industry thats been prospering for the last few decades. So while its still a huge challenge to land, its become easier stand ing on the shoulders of those who came before us and made all these parts and pieces accessible. You May Also Like Engineers Remember the Making of the Lunar ModuleQ Whats your opinion about public-private partnerships in space exploration?J.T I think public-private partnership is a model that has a great track record of success in the recent history and the one that will continuously be successful in pushing the envelope of commercial space outward. The way we think about it is that Space agencies will always be pushing the bounds of whats technologically possible and the bounds of exploration. Once commercial opportunities are there, companies like us step in and create a sustainable building block that can be used for the next great step. Its a natural progression and public-private partnerships is a great way to transition from government efforts to commercial efforts.Q Why is it important for us to go back to the Moon and beyond?J.T The Moon is our nearest neighbor and the close st place to Earth that we need to go to learn to live off land and to begin to use the resources of another planetary body. If we want to be true explorers and settlers of another planet, then we need to learn how to harvest resources like fuel from the Moon as well as other destinations in outer space. Some of the first things that will occur on the Moon is harvesting water for rocket fuel. Eventually we will learn to 3-D print parts from the regolith and maybe in time grow food and create sustainable capability to survive on the Moon. That knowledge will then apply to Mars and other deeper destinations in space. If we are able to use the Moon to tether off reliance on Earth, we can become true explorers and settlers of the solar system.Q Will it happen in the near future?J.T I think we will see humans on or within the vicinity of the Moon within a decade. Thats the interest the agencies have shown and especially NASA. We will have a science post in a couple of decades on the surfa ce of the Moon. That will be an incredibly huge leap forward and that again will provide the capability to build that knowledge to go further and reach deep space destinations including Mars.Q How important are MEs in a space mission?J.T Mechanical engineers are key for any travel mission to space. The first thing a spacecraft has to do is survive the launch environment and thats challenging. Mechanical engineers are the ones designing the structures that survive that environment. Those same engineers are creating the structures that survive the thermal environment and designing the thermal systems of the spacecraft. They are designing the fluid flows and everything else running through the propulsion systems that can make sure the spacecraft can operate correctly during its navigation and land safely down on the surface of the Moon.Q Whats your advice for young MEs aspiring to launch their space robotics startups?J.T The best advice is to have persistent passion to take on a startu p. You have to really love what you do because there are going to be good days and bad days. You need the passion to get through the bad days. You have to be persistent because it can take time. Its a really exciting time right now for space robotics in particular and its going to be revolutionizing lot of parts of space and there is a huge opportunity for engineers looking to go into the field.Chitra Sethi is the managing editor of Mechanical Engineering magazine.Recommended for You 3D Printing in Space

How to find out who you truly are as a person today

How to find out who you truly are as a person todayHow to find out who you truly are as a person todayWe live in a culture of proclamations rather than self-inquiry.In ur late teens, we have to decide what we want to be - a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, or a writer. We pick a professional identity based on our whimsical teenage interests that often guides the rest of our lives. This isnt inherently bad, but it reinforces a potentially fabricated sense of self. All of this happens at a time in life when we should be asking an important question insteadWho am I?In Eastern culture, there is a strong emphasis on looking within to find your authentic self. What energizes you? What makes you happy? How do you walk a personal path that will be fulfilling and noble? Most of us in the Western world arent asking the right questions.Instead, we focus on the surface things that dont really matter - fancy job titles, shiny cars, trendy restaurants, and the newest tech. Things that most often have nothing to do with who we are.Heres how to start the hard work of finding out who you really are under all the noiseYoure the hero of your own story. Find out what makes you tick.Deep down, we long to be the people we read about in the classic tales.Movies, books, fantasy games, and video games allow us to imagine our lives as someone else, which feels good. But watching Luke Skywalker wield a lightsaber isnt the same as learning kendo yourself. Cheering for Spiderman as he swings across a cityscape is nowhere near as cool as swinging from a vine yourself in the Amazon. Dancing is fun, yet weve relegated it to a sport we observe on a screen rather than an activity that fills us with joy.The problem with the modern world is that the stars get to have all the fun.The thing is, you dont have to be Lance Armstrong to ride a bike. Lots of people enjoy cycling through the scenic countryside without holding world records. Youre the hero in your own life story, so its time to stop discounti ng what really gets you excited.Finding our true personality is the key to finding meaning and purposeAs we identify the connections to our inner selves, we tap into a contagious wave of energy. We can see when someone is activated, and we are drawn to them. Were impressed, influenced, or motivated by people who are vibrantly alive. They rub off on us and remind us of something we long to be.When we find the spark that ignites our spirit, we begin flowing with vitality and people can see it in our eyes.If time, money, and distributions-mix werent a factor, what would you do with your time?Once you figure out what you truly enjoy, you can begin to make an action plan to incorporate more of that into your own life. Start by asking yourself the following.?What would I do without anything standing in my way??What can I do to go there? ?What are the obstacles??Is it a real or a perceived limitation??How can I transform these obstacles??How can I change my current lifestyle to accommodate this and move toward the goal?Start to curate a life thats fun to live and filled with good stuff every day. That way, you wont need to fantasize about being Superman.Once you figure out your priorities, youll have more energy, time, and money to also go on all the adventures you desire. Youll have more levity in your daily life. Youll know that youve arrived when your home life and your vacation time feel about the same.Life should be a wondrous flow of experiences, lessons, adventures, and opportunities to spread goodness. But to get there, you first have to nail down your priorities and let go of whats holding you back.Once you do, youll experience joy wherever you are.Take a (well-deserved) breakTreat your vacation time as a mini-sabbatical.What I mean by that is, dont waste your valuable time off on bus tours of yet another touristy town. Pick a place where you can be at ease and get into a book or some personal work, or just catch up on sleep. Ask yourself what you need and a llow yourself to drink from that fountain.Say, for instance, youve always wanted to see the pyramids in Egypt. Okay, thats a one-week vacation. You dont need to upend your entire life to take a trip, even if it feels difficult to imagine because your life is heavy with responsibility. One week should suffice for most people, and thats not too hard to get in todays world. If you have small kids, take turns with your spouse or a friend to watch them. Take mini trips as often as you can, and make a plan for more extended time off when feasible.I treat Sundays as micro-sabbaticals. I do only what feels natural, and I try not to make any plans. This at least gives me some space to relax and let the day unfold. Because I have kids, the day still involves running around, but at least they can get some unstructured time to play and explore as well. Do it as a family and savor it.This article was originally published on Quora.close dialogAdvertisementclose dialog/* effects for .bx-campaign-10 12255 *//* custom css .bx-campaign-1012255 */.bx-custom.bx-campaign-1012255.bx-type-agilityzone .bx-close z-index 2-ms-keyframes bx-anim-1012255-spin from -ms-transform rotate(0deg) to -ms-transform rotate(360deg) -moz-keyframes bx-anim-1012255-spin from -moz-transform rotate(0deg) to -moz-transform rotate(360deg) -webkit-keyframes bx-anim-1012255-spin from -webkit-transform rotate(0deg) to -webkit-transform rotate(360deg) keyframes bx-anim-1012255-spin from transform rotate(0deg) to transform rotate(360deg) bx-close-inside-1012255 top 0 right 0 /* rendered styles .bx-campaign-1012255 */.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255.bx-active-step-1 .bx-creative *first-child padding 0width auto.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255.bx-active-step-1 .bx-creative background-color transparent.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255. bx-active-step-1 .bx-close stroke whitebackground-color blackborder-style solidborder-color whiteborder-width 1pxbox-shadow 0px 0px 0px 3px black.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-group-1012255-3RBnJGC position absolutetop 50%left 50%transform translate(-50%, -50%)z-index -1.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-element-1012255-wryzWV5 width 55px.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-element-1012255-wryzWV5 *first-child animation-name bx-anim-1012255-spinanimation-duration 800msanimation-iteration-count infiniteanimation-timing-function linear.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-group-1012255-me4p1bl padding 10px.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-element-1012255-ZdLO37u width auto.bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-element-1012255-ZdLO37u *first-child padding 2px 4pxfont-size 10pxcolor rgb(255, 255, 255)text-transform uppercasebackground-color rgb(0, 0, 0)background-color rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.34).bxc.bx-campaign-1012255 .bx-group-1012255-lyDBLV9 width 900pxheight 550px

As someone in their mid-twenties with a degree (albeit an arts one) and a full-time job, I generally feel like somewhat of a success story especially with the unemployment rate for young people (19 to 24-year-olds, to be precise) hitting 12.4 per cent in todays gloomy economy. If youre in a similar situation and are giving yourself a pat on the back for winning in life, you should perhaps reserve it for a more celebratory time.
